How to Avoid Stress Eating

 

Unfortunately, we're all subject to bad days. There is a sense of comfort and solitude in food, which causes stress eating. Whether the stress comes from work, family members or friends, it can be very damaging to our effort to lose weight.

It's not the fact that we get stress in our lives but how we react to stress that will determine our contentment and ability to avoid stress eating.  

If you find yourself in situations that are full of stress, make a few changes that will enable you to cope better. If you can't change the circumstance, then here are some simple tips to keep you from eating everything in sight because of stress:

(1) Avoid Negative Self Talk - Common When Under Stress

"I will not overeat though I'm upset" 
"I am talented and creative" 
"Life may not be fair but good things will come my way"
"I will lose weight and get the body of my dreams"
"I will stop eating junk food"
"I will develop a healthy eating plan"

(3) Hide the Sweets
(4) Take a Walk or Go to the Gym

(5) Call a Good Friend
(6) Listen to Your Favorite Music

(7) Lean on your Faith - Faith gives us a sense of purpose and helps put stress-filled situations in proper perspective. Acknowledge that problems are temporary and will soon pass. No matter how bad problems appear, there will be better days.
