Anyone who already has high blood pressure should avoid high protein diets, especially those that encourage cream sauces, butter, red meats and other fatty foods.

High protein and low carb can be a very bad combination

Unfortunately, the worse high protein diets are those that also emphasize low carbs because many high fiber foods such as fruits and vegetables get left out of these diets.

Carbs are not the enemy. Complex carbs foods found in vegetable and fruits contain disease fighting nutrients and essential vitamins and minerals. They also contain high fiber which is essential to the elimination process.

Avoid diets that use high protein shakes without other meals

Avoid protein diets that use shakes or high protein drinks as the only meal. Even those high protein drinks that allow 1 small meal each day are dangerous because they leave you weak and lack proper nutrition found in real foods. Contrary to popular opinion, these types of diets usually fail.
