Reduce Fast Food Calories - Make Healthy Choices

 

FAST FOOD SUGGESTIONS

Lets face it, fast food restaurants are a fact of life for those on the move. The more times you bring lunch to work and avoid fast food, the easier it is to lose weight, but there's still hope. We've listed 3 popular fast food restaurants in order of best to worst choices.

1 st Choice ..... Subway

Most choices at Subway are good. Stick to the 6 inch sub and if you choose chips, stay with Doritos WOW or baked chips. Drinks should be diet or plain water. Because most 6 inch sandwiches are between 290 and 350 calories, almost any sandwich will do. A combo meal of sandwich ( 6 inch), chips (baked or WOW) and diet soda averages 450 calories and 7 grams of fat ........NOT BAD!!!!!

Avoid foot long sandwiches because portion control is very important when trying to lose weight and foot long subs doubles the calories. Avoid regular soda which adds 200 empty calories. Drink water or diet soda.

6 Inch Sandwiches To Avoid:

Roast Beef / Turkey & Cheese ...... 525 calories ; 31 g fat
Salami, Pepperoni, Turkey Bologna, Ham, Cheese ....635 cal ; 42 g fat
Ham / Turkey & Cheese ...... 510 calories ; 30 g fat
Classic Italian BMT (hot) ..... .670 calories ; 39 g fat
Classic Italian BMT (cold) ..... .450 calories ; 21g fat
Cold Cut Trio ....... 520 calories ; 24 g fat


2 nd Choice ....... McDonalds

Not many good choices here but there's always a few items that won't bust your calorie limit.

Best Choices:

Chicken McGrill (plain - no mayo) ..... 340 calories ; 7 g fat

Grilled Chicken Cesar Salad
replace with vinaigrette dressing .....180 calories ; 3 g fat

Egg McMuffin ........ 290 calories ; 12 g fat

Hotcakes (3) with margarine (1 pat) and syrup ... 550 calories ; 15 g fat

Vanilla ice cream cone ..... 150 calories ; 5 g fat

McDonald's new Fruit n' Yogurt with granola may seem healthy but it's close to 400 calories with very little fruit. Their shakes are only 360 calories. Avoid McFlurrys ---- Most are more than 600 calories.

3 rd Choice ........ Carl's Jr.

We honestly could not find many low calorie / low fat meals at Carl's Jr. Most foods are loaded with calories and fat. We suggest the following if you're dinning at Carl's Jr.

Best Choices:

Charbroiled BBQ Chicken Sandwich ........ 280 calories ; 3 g fat

Charbroiled Chicken Salad to Go
with fat free French or Italian dressing ...... 250 calories ; 7 g fat

Avoid Blue Cheese, House or 1000 Island dressing. Blue cheese has 320 calories. House and 1000 Island has 230 calories.
