Eating at Night - How to Cope

 

Don't get discourage from losing weight if you have problems with eating at night. One of the biggest  misconception is that eating during the evening will cause you to gain weight. It's your overall calorie consumption that will cause you to gain weight.  There's nothing wrong with eating your meal between 6 and 8 PM and going to bed around 10:30 PM.

The real problem is the foods you're eating. You can keep calories low by eating a serving or two of vegetables with a serving of meat and a light dessert. A dinner of 1 baked chicken breast (skin removed) with seasoning and mashed potato and gravy with steam carrots and chocolate pudding is only 450 calories. Substitute a baked 4 ounce pork chop or 4 ounce steak for the chicken and the total calories are 550.

The problem with late night snacking is the urge to continue to eat after dinner. Giving in to this urge will cause you to gain weight. Late night snacking is one of the biggest problem people have with controlling their diet.

The best way to control your urge to snacking during the night is to substitute food for a low calorie drink. When you get the urge to snack, prepare your favorite herbal tea. Add a little milk and artificial sweetener. One or two cups of tea will satisfy the urge to eat more until you go to bed. Once sleep, the problem is over.
