Other than losing weight,
can you tell me why it’s important to eat a healthy diet. I really
enjoy eating and the only reason I don’t eat what I want is that I’m
afraid of getting too fat.

Dear Julie,
There’s an old saying:
“Eat to live NOT live
to eat”
There’s a basic truth about
this statement that most of society has forgotten. In a culture
that’s obsessed with seeking pleasure, most people eat only to
satisfy their taste buds. They forget the main purpose of food is to
nurture the body, not just taste good. The average American diet
consists of foods that are filled with fat with absolutely NO
nutritional value. This explains why obesity is running rampant.
There’s nothing wrong with
enjoying the taste of food, but taste should not be a substitution
for healthy nutrition. Remember, without a daily supply of
nutrients, your body will not function at it’s best and you will be
vulnerable to all types of diseases. In due time, some of these
diseases can be fatal.
The moral of the story is
that a healthy diet is very important to maintaining good health and
optimum performance. You should “eat to live NOT live
to eat”
