Dear Diet Tip,
What is the best way to burn more calories? I
heard that certain food combinations will help burn calories. I’m
also considering some type of diet pills to speed up my metabolism
but I need to know what has proven to work. Can you help?

Dear Margaret,
The best way to burn
calories is to exercise more or increase your daily activity level.
Keep in mind that no food combination is going to make you burn more
calories. Also, there are no proven diet supplements that will boost
your metabolism though many companies claim that burning fat is easy
with their diet pills ……. Don’t believe it!!!
If you want to burn more
calories, you need to move around more through increase activity or
regular exercise. Fast pace walking or stationary biking are
excellent exercises you can do to boost your metabolism and burn
more calories. Be sure while exercising to keep your heart rate
range 50% to 60% of maximum to burn the most fat.
You can also burn more
calories by simply moving around more. For trips less than a mile,
try walking instead of taking the car. Other ways to burn calories
as part of your regular routine are as follows:
- Park a mile away from
work and walk the rest of the distance to get in your daily
exercise.
- When you go to the
mall, try walking from one end of the mall to the other before
you begin shopping.
- Walk instead of taking
the car to your favorite lunch place.
- Dedicate
a few hours each weekend to your garden.
