I tried everything possible to lose weight and I’m really frustrated.  My last diet was Slim Fast. I had 3 shakes a day but I only lasted 2 days before I start eating everything in sight. Can you offer some suggestions on the best methods to lose weight?

Don’t give up. You can lose weight and lots of it but you have to have a good plan.

Most people try starvation and crash diets to lose weight. These fad diets never work and are not the best way to lose weight. 

Instead of starving yourself, try eating 4 to 5 small meals per day. This will keep your metabolism running higher and prevent you from binging later in the day. Keeping a balanced blood sugar level is very important to losing weight. If you starve yourself by skipping meals, your blood sugar level will have to many peaks and valleys which will cause you to over-eat.

 The best methods for dieting and weight loss are:

  • Reduce over-all calorie intake by 25% - 30%
  • Eat 4 to 5 small meals each day
  • Reduce portion size to reduce calories
  • Eat healthy foods to reduce calories
  • 20 minutes stationary bike ride is the best way to increase metabolism.
  • Reduce simple carbs but include whole grain foods (complex carbs)
  • Don’t skip breakfast …. You need energy in the morning to start your day
