Increase Will- Power Through  a  Healthy Diet

Staying on a healthy diet can be difficult at times because of problems with will-power. You MUST make up your mind to change certain bad habits so that you can lose weight. However, many people struggle with snacking on sugary or fatty foods because they try to completely eliminate them from their diet. Contrary to popular belief, this is the wrong thing to do. Here are some helpful hints to help your will-power:

  1. Don't Deprive Yourself - Lets face it, must of us are not willing to completely give up sweets and fattening foods. So instead of totally eliminating these foods from your diet, plan a special day to eat your favorite treat.

  2. Sliced Fruits - Certain fruits taste absolutely delicious when sliced and chilled. Refrigerate Asian pears (they're sweet and crispy) for 1/2 hour, then slice into small pieces. Also, try slicing a peach or watermelon, then chill and serve.

  3. Light Pastries - Light pastries are excellent tasting and are 1/3 to 1/2 less calories than their fatty counterpart. Take the pastry out of the package and divide it by the number of servings. Six servings are cut and divided into 6 equal sizes. Immediately put each slice into a plastic zip lock sandwich bag. Put the bags out of sight and allow yourself 1 serving each day and choose the exact time to have your treat.

Dividing the pastry and placing it in a plastic sandwich bag will prevent you from eating the ENTIRE pastry at one time. Choosing a specific time to eat your treat gives you something to look forward to. This way you will not feel deprived.
